Why Many People Fail in Affiliate Marketing And What You Can Do To Avoid It (7 REASONS)

So you are an affiliate marketer? or you are interested in affiliate marketing?

So you started a business and you start promoting other people's products from the beginning. You created a Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn page and start promoting your “High commission affiliate products”.

1 week…2 weeks…1 month…2 months…6 months…1 year…

Urgh!! Why no one is buying anything?” you said to yourself. And you have also got kicked out from several groups on different social media telling you that you are spamming. Your posts are not getting reach, no engagements, and no-sells whatsoever.

Now you are frustrated, angry, and confused. You don't know what to do and probably thinking about quitting this thing…

Now if this story is similar to yours or if you could relate to this story even a little bit, you can understand that this guy in this story is clearly making some mistakes. And that is what I going to talk about today.

Here is, “Why Many People Fail in Affiliate Marketing And What You Can Do To Avoid It

ENJOY!

1. Not Focusing On Quality Content

Affiliate marketing is a very crowded business area. So, you need to find ways to stand out from the crowd. To stand out from the crowd, you have to create content that is either of great value or very entertaining…or both 🙄

And if you can’t capture your audience, they are gone and gone forever.

And if you are an affiliate marketer, don’t just say what the supplier says about his products. Try to act from a user's point of view and answer questions that haven’t been answered before, try to give some extra tips to use the product to its best.

2. Not Knowing The Product You Promote

Let's say you are an affiliate marketer meaning you promote other people's products. (if you don't know what is affiliate marketing 🙄).

So, you researched a bit and found a high-paying product. Now you want to promote that product. But, the problem is you don't know much about that product. So you copied whatever was written on the sales page of that product and pasted it into your blog, youtube videos, and different social media platforms.

Luckily you got tons of traffic and engagements on that post. And people are asking you different types of questions about that product. And….now you are blank.

You have no idea about what to reply to those comments because you, yourself have no idea about that product.

See? THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM!!

Many affiliate marketers don’t know the products they want to earn commissions from.

The thing is your visitors don’t come to your blog to read things they have read somewhere else before. They seek reliable information.

It is almost impossible to provide useful information about a product if you haven’t used it yourself.

In the best case, promote products you have achieved great results with. If you show your achievements of using the product, you can give great value to your audience.

3. Underestimating The Power Of Relationship

If you are doing affiliate marketing, it is true that you don't have to do customer support for the product you are promoting.

But that doesn't mean that you should totally disconnect with your customers after they purchase the product you were promoting. For succeeding in affiliate marketing, you have to get and stay in touch with your audience!

If you don’t get in touch with your audience, you have to attract customers over and over again, which is a lot of hassle.

In affiliate marketing, strong relationships are mainly built on great helpful content and your interactions with your audience.

Try to offer help whenever you can. Go and answer questions people leave in your comment section or on social media.

And on the process of creating your affiliate business, you should start building your own email list. That way, you can send them emails with helpful information. That can create very strong, long-lasting relationships between you and your subscribers.

4. Going For Selling, Not For Helping

Okay so you are an affiliate marketer and you are promoting different products. Now you start promoting these products in all the social media account you have. Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, etc etc etc.

Your posts are pretty much like this, “Hey if you want to make money, buy this XYZ product and you can make XYZ amount of money.”

And fortunately, you got some sales. That encouraged you to sell it even more. So you start to promote and sell this even more than before. And your sales actually got up too!!

Exciting right?…not for long…🙂

Suddenly you start seeing a fall in your sale. People have stopped buying. Your social media posts are not getting any engagements. People are leaving hate comments. Your posts are getting banned!!

Ahh…now you are frustrated!!

See, this is the problem. People put all their energy into selling and get only little sales results in return. And with poor results, many put even more effort into actively selling, which makes the gap to their sales results even bigger…

People start businesses and all they can think of is “I have to make sales!“. They are madly chasing sales and forget to do what actually leads to a sale: Helping people.

But why is helping the key? Because you are not pushing people to buy something. Instead, your actions are based on digging for problems of your audience and giving a suitable solution for them with your blog posts, videos, podcasts, etc.

Helping people leads to something money can’t buy Trust.

If you honestly want to help people with what you do in your business, your audience will trust you. There can be no sale if your (potential) customer doesn’t trust you.

5. Not Sticking With One Niche.

Let’s say you are new to affiliate marketing. You are learning the basic stuff of affiliate marketing. You have learned some new words like affiliate programs, niche, affiliate commission, affiliate link, etc etc etc.

Although you are new to affiliate marketing, you got to know that niche is really important in affiliate marketing. And if you can plan your niche properly you can make a huge amount of profits. Now you thought to yourself,” If a niche business is that much profit. Why not I chose several niches. More niche, more business, more customer, more profit!!… I am going to be rich!!

NO…THAT IS NOT HOW IT WORKS…😑.

Many affiliate marketers underestimate the workload that comes with this business. They end up having several niches but it is getting harder and harder for them to handle all of the business. Sooner or later people get frustrated and give up.

So that's why you should start with one niche and grow it into a profitable business. At that point, your expertise will be strong enough to step into more markets or try other business models.

6. Not Choosing The Right Products

As an affiliate marketer, you must be aware of what kind of product you are choosing to promote, does that product resonates with the market you are in? And most importantly, can you make profits out of that product?

See your income will depend on what kind of affiliate products you choose to promote. So if you are promoting low-priced products, the commission you will get will also be relatively lower. So you have to generate much more traffic to achieve the same results you get with higher commission products.

Now, that doesn't mean that promoting low-priced products are bad or something. What I am trying to say is that you just have to be aware that products with relatively low pricing results need more traffic.

But I am not at all saying that the higher the price, the more money you make. If you want to promote a higher-priced product, you have to put more effort into building trust with your audience. That’s a challenge you should not run into as a newbie.

7. Not Maintaining Consistency

As an affiliate marketer consistency is a must. No matter how good an affiliate marketer you are, if your mindset is weak, you will fail. You will have setbacks. But moving on, whenever you get stuck, is what counts!

The truth about affiliate marketing is, that everyone, even a complete beginner, can make it work.

I know this sounds like a scam, but it really is true. People don’t succeed because they are smart. They succeed because they are consistent, discipline in their work. No matter if that is a win or a loss, they accept it, analyze it, learn from it, and move on with it.

Don't be like “I wonder if I can make it“. Rather, be like, “I will make it, sooner or later“.

When you are a beginner, set small goals that you can and will achieve. After you do that, appreciate yourself. Then set a new goal and a new goal and a new goal…so on and so forth.

Make a contract with yourself that whatever obstacle comes your way, keep moving, and never give up.

I guess this is all not new to you. And I know we tend to underestimate the importance of mindset.

The truth is, your mindset decides if you will succeed in your business or not. Even if you have the best skills in the world, but your mindset is weak, you will fail.

That's why they say,” Success doesn't come from things you do OCCASSIONALY, it comes to form things you do CONSISTENTLY”.

So that is all for this one. Hope you got some value. If you did you can give us a clap 🙂…or maybe a few claps 🙂🙂.
